DETROIT – The GMC Sierra and Yukon XL ranked within the top three in their respective market segments in the 2010 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study (IQS), which measures the number of problems consumers experience during the first 90 days of vehicle ownership.

The Sierra 1500 ranks highest in the Large Pickup category (tied with the Chevrolet Avalanche),while the Yukon/XL placed in the top three in the Large Crossover/SUV segment.  Sierra registered 81 problems per hundred vehicles (PPH), and Yukon XL had 97 PPH.

“The fact that the GMC Sierra and Yukon placed at the top in initial quality is a clear indication of the engineering excellence and commitment every member of the GMC team has to developing and designing professional grade vehicles that GMC stands for,” said John Schwegman, U.S. marketing vice president of Buick-GMC.

“This may be an opportunity for our team to celebrate our accomplishments, but we realize that maintaining quality will require relentless pursuit to exceed the expectations of our GMC owners,” Schwegman said.
